98Elites Can't Overcome Adversity and Poor Play in Bowing Out Of State Playdowns
The 98s split on Saturday, a 4-1 win vs. the Bulldogs and a 3-2 loss to Lynnfield Spartans was not enough to earn the Vipers a playoff trip. Battling team sickness and injuries was just to much to overcome for the Vipers this weekend, coupled with some very inconsistent play the Vipers couldn't pull out the win in the final game.
In the morning game against the Bulldogs the Vipers seemed to control play for the entire game, only giving up 4 shots on goal, but could cash in on numerous scoring chances in their 4-1 win. The Green Line of Kyle Lynch (0-2-2) Kyle Hentosh (1-1-2) and Dante Maribito (2-1-3) led the charge offensively. Noah Maercklein rounded out the scoring as Evan Daddario and Ross Wahl added single helpers. Aaron McDonnell played well between the pipes
In the nightcap which was a must win game the Vipers fell in a 2-0 hole and despite playing until the final buzzer were on the short side of a 3-2 score. Mistakes were just to much to overcome against the well coached 97 Lynnfield Spartans
