98s Score Late Tie Up Bandits

Saturday, February 18, 2012, 7:42PM
The Vipers would square off against a solid Bridgewater Bandits team who have been playing real well of late in their 3rd game of the EHF tourney, and they would need all 45 minutes in this one to pull out the tie scoring with the extra attacker on and with 29 seconds left in the game. This was a well played game that saw the Bandits go up 2-0 on a couple of defensive zone miscues by the Vipers after 1 period, but the Vipers would play much better over the final 2 periods winning both periods for the tie. Noah Maercklein would bang home a sweet dish from Brendan White who was camped behind the net to cut the lead in half after 2. And then with just 29 seconds left Kyle Lynch would make an incredible play, win a race dive and get the puck over to Maribito who would finish it with a backhand to the open shortside. Steven Tettoni would play well from the blueline and the line of Alex Delvento, Brendan White and Braden Haley did a fine job in the absence of Evan Daddario. The Vipers have put themselves in a must win situation aginst the Middlesex Islanders if they look to advance to the playoffs to defend their title.

98s Skate Past Rochester Monarchs

Saturday, February 18, 2012, 7:40PM
The Vipers playing without the services of Evan Daddario who suffered a broken hand in the Kings game, shuffled their deck and put in a solid effort in a 5-1 win over the Rochester Monarchs. The Monarchs would get on the board first to make it 1-0, but less than a minute later Kyle Hentosh (2-1-3) would tip in a shot from Noah Maercklein (2-1-3) to tie the score. The Vipers would then go on to score the next 4 goals. Kyle Hentosh would then tip home a blast from Christian Kukas for the 2-1 lead and Maerckleins first from Kyle Lynch (1-2-3) and Dante Maribito (0-3-3) would stretch the lead to 3-1. Lynch fro Henny and Maribito and Maercklein from JT Chamberlain and Aaron Dollin would close out the scoring in this one. Aaron McDonnell was solid between the pipes for the Vipers in this one, who got strong efforts on the blueline from Patrick McCarthy and Christian Kukas. Alex Delvento who moved up front also played well
