The Vipers showed why you need to play every second of every period as they used a goal with 1.2 seconds left in the first and a goal with 40 seconds left in the game to upend the home team Assabet Valley Patriots. The first period ended 0-0 as both teams had their chances in this very well played game by both teams. After a solid shift by the red line would produce an icing by AVP and an offensive zone face the Green line took full advantage as off a set play Dante Maribito would win the draw and Kyle Lynch would do the rest as he slid it 5-hole for the 1-0 lead after 2. It would stay 1-0 until the 4 minute mark when AVP would cash in on the power play to knot it at 1. That's the way this one looked like it was going to end but with just 40 seconds left Ryan Connearney made a nice breakout pass to Kyle Hentosh up the left wing boards, Maribito trailed the play and took a nice drop pass from Hentosh, came off the wall and let a wicked slapper go from the top of the circle that hit up under the bar and in for the winner. Ryan Connearney and Christian Kukas played well defensively and goalie Aaron McDonnell stood tall between the pipes down the stretch. The win pulled the Vipers to .500 at 4-4-1 in the league after their 3rd straight league win
